Favorite things giveaway – Spice House gift card {closed}

Today I’m giving a gift card away to one of my favorite stores, The Spice House. You have no doubt seen me talk about it, tweet about it, or just link to it over the years. When I first entered this place years ago, I was in awe. A bazillion spices, all of them more flavorful and more affordable than their grocery store counterparts? Yes, please.

I reached out to the good people of The Spice House to see if they would give one of my great readers a gift card, and they said yes! So, one lucky reader will get $50 to spend – and that goes a long way, trust me! You could get some of my favorite things – almond extract, cassia cinnamon, hot chili powder, porcini powder, sumac – and not even use half of it. So, what are you waiting for? Enter below! Giveaway ends December 26th at 11:59pm.

  1. Oh, girl, you are singing my song!!!! lol … any time we make a trip to a large city to hit up all the small ethnic grocers, the majority of my time is spent in the spice section. I must touch, smell, read everything – and even if I have no idea what it’s for, if I don’t already have it, I buy it. And then hunt down recipes! 🙂

  2. That is a difficult question. There are so many that I love! but when it comes down to it I would have to say GARLIC! I can not live without it! Thanks, for the opportunity.

  3. What a great giveaway! Thanks! I love spices and some of the less common ones are not available in my small city. The Spice House is a great resource!

  4. Considering I am almost out of vanilla extract and I did run out of almond extract, that would be the top of my list!

  5. Cumin is one of my favorites. And the cinnamon at the spice house is amazing! I don’t live in Chicago, so I stock up while I’m in the city.

  6. Cinnamon is my key baking spice. Cumin is my key cooking spice. I really can’t decide which qualifies as “favorite” in terms of use, but with Christmas Cinnamon rolls on my mind I think I’ll have to go with the cinnamon 🙂

  7. I think red pepper flakes are my favorite. I always add more than a recipe calls for, and add them to dishes that don’t call for them in the first place.

  8. LOVE The Spice House! It is so hard to pick just one!! I’ve been using a ton of thyme lately, but ginger powder is another commonly used one.

  9. I love The Spice House’s Chicago neighborhood spices! We housesat in a place with the collection and put them on everything. Quinoa. Squash. Meat. Popcorn. I think the Bridgeport one was my favorite.

    1. Neighborhood spices?! I’m looking into this as I type! I’m a little sad to see the Southport Corridor, my neighborhood, wasn’t represented, but I can’t imagine the Southport Corridor would “taste” better than, say, Pilsen or Greektown. 😉

  10. Mmm, cumin is my favorite, and I was shocked recently to learn my parents don’t even stock it in their house!

  11. I have been buying spices and herb by mail from The Spice House for many many years. My current favorite is Aleppo pepper. I have tried so many new things here…..and I love that they provide recipes.

  12. Lately I’ve been obsessed with Yotam Ottolenghi’s recipe, which means I’ve been hankering for sumac more than ever before. Thanks for the chance to win!

  13. Cumin is one of my favorites. I love The Spice House! I have placed a few orders with them. I love when a new spice is first opened, it smells so amazing! Thanks for the giveaway chance!

  14. I love every spice, except cilantro. Basil is my most favorite. Pizza with extra basil. You can’t get better than that!

  15. Too hard to choose one favorite! I love cumin, cilantro, paprika for savory spices. My favorite spice mix is Tony Chachere’s creole spice mix. My favorite sweet spice would have to be Mexican vanilla extract. But I admit to being a strange duck -an Indian girl, raised in Louisiana, now living in TX. All sorts of flavors mixed together…
