Another Recipe! Indian-Spiced Chicken Burgers

20

This recipe for Indian-spiced chicken burgers comes to you from the depths of my Google Reader. I starred it as soon as I saw it appear in Liz’s blog. I’ve been wanting to experiment more with Indian flavors and, well, I love anything with yogurt, so it sounded like a winner.

Ground chicken and I have come a long way since I had no clue what to do with it last year. I do think this recipe (and every recipe) would be better with ground chicken thighs, as the original calls for, but ground chicken breast is a very healthy and still very tasty substitution. They don’t cook very long so there’s no chance of them drying out, and the bold Indian flavors make that bland ol’ chicken breast really sing.  I do admit that I wish I had pan-fried them in a little olive oil for a little extra flavor and a nice crust, though.

This was a really delicious recipe (and a great excuse for me to eat some naan!), and I’ll definitely make it again.  It’s a snap, too. I formed the meatballs (I did more sliders/meatballs than burgers) and made the sauce before an appointment we had so I just had to come home and cook them.

  1. Love the flavors here. You know, I haven’t worked with ground chicken. Tturkey yes, but not chicken. These little burgers sound delicious though and I may have to try some soon.

  2. I love interesting burger recipes, especially now that I have a George Foreman grill to cook them on. I usually go for turkey burgers, and my favorite so far is a salsa verde burger. This one looks like it might give that one a run for its money though!

  3. I just cooked these. Added some turmeric, and hot sauce. Soooo good! Maxed on the stove since I don’t have a grill but the whole thing was so delish!
